Wednesday 4/3/2015 Day 57 Indonesian Islands all around us – we are nearly there!

We are on latitude 1 degree south so soon we’ll be crossing back over the equator.  I heard we’d be putting the clocks back again tonight, bringing us 8 hours ahead. Why do I find it so hard to calculate 8 hours ahead? It was a doddle when it was 12, but the brain struggles with 8. However I am glad that we are moving closer again and will have a larger window for chat and skype.

Today’s sea day has been lovely, dry and warm, at a very pleasant 28C. We have very happily walked, revised the foxtrot, jive and waltz, painted a bird on the wing, had drinks in Phil and Debbie’s cabin and had a wonderful  dinner, which was rounded off by a meringue swan on a nest of sticky toffee cream.

We have been passing through many Indonesian islands all very much in the distance for now but we will be arriving in Bitung on the Island of Sulawesi at 8 in the morning.  there are over 18000 islands in this archipelago, but only 1000 are inhabited.  So its one of these, Sulawesi, Indonesia tomorrow, then sea day then Kota Kinabalu in Borneo the day after. No excursion booked tomorrow, so a wander around the town of Bitung and an independent trip around the island.

Until tomorrow, with Tales from Indonesia
